The Murchison Falls National Park got its name from the internationally renowned Murchison Falls where the Nile squeezes through an 8m wide gorge and plunges a thunderous roar into the “Devil’s Cualdron” Its riverbanks teem with buffaloes, Hippos, waterbucks and crocodiles. The park is home to various wild animals such as elephants, Chimpanzees, leopards, Uganda Kob, giraffes, oribis, buffaloes and hartebeests, in addition to several bird species like the uncommon shoebill stock.

Detailed Safari Itinerary
DAY 1: Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park
Enjoy an early breakfast and then journey through the well-known Luwero triangle. Have a stopover at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you will be briefed about the tour of the Rhino restoration project. This was set up by the government to breed black & white rhinos, and restore their population in protected areas within Uganda, as a result of an extinction of Rhinos in Uganda back in the early 1980s during the civil unrest as well as severe poaching.
Take another stopover within Masindi to have Lunch. Travel to the park along the western arm of the Rift Valley and watch the gorgeous falls in which the Great River Nile thunderously explodes through a tiny gorge and then flows down into a peaceful river with a raising water spray that forms rainbow colors. Later on you will continue to your lodge for the night’s rest.

DAY 2: Game Drive, Launch Cruise – Murchison Falls National Park
Following breakfast, drive to the northern section of the park where you will have a game drive. There you will see Elephants, Hartebeests, Buffaloes, Giraffes, and Bushbucks, Leopards and Lions plus a profusion of different bird species. Following lunch, go for a 2-hour launch cruise to the bottom of the Murchison Fall; you will see various animals on the river banks like crocodiles and hippos, plus water birds which will also make it a wonderful bird watching safari. You will continue to the top of the falls and later drive to your lodge for dinner and the overnight.

DAY 3: Budongo Forest – Return to Kampala
Following breakfast, you will cross the river go through Budongo forest and have lunch in Masindi. Head back to Kampala driving at leisure. visitors interested in chimpanzee trekking you will have a chance to do so in Kaniyo Pabidi of Budongo Forest early morning prior to returning to Kampala.
